Small Porsche crest on glove box door????

Can anybody shed some light on this: I just bought a '77 911S and on the glove box door there is a small Porsche crest that must be glued on to the vinyl covering. I have never seen another with this. Have you? I believe this to be a European version because of the tailight lenses. If it is not a special order or original I would like to remove it. I'm afraid to damage the vinyl on the door in the process. Any ideas???

My guess is if you remove it, there will be evidence on the lid something was there, depending on how it was attached some time in the past 40 years. Probably look like crap.

The Chassis number/VIN is a better indication of that.
