BB2: Paint and Clearcoat

I snuck out of the house today to get a glimpse of the car drying its clearcoat. Kevin did an amazing job on it. For once, the pictures don't live up to the thing in real life. And of course, this is without any color sanding or other tweaks being done.

This is the last to see of it, for a while. Before the doors, decklids and the like get put on, it's going out for its cage and the aluminum panel that goes where the rear seats used to be.

WOW!

It looks great! I can only imagine how that Momma's gonna handle.

What kind of seats are you putting in this time around?

Same leather seats and dash, but new carpet, and new leather RSA door panels.

Here they are in the old interior:

NICE.. but it looks like you've got wings with those small wheels on there. It looks like it should be named SBB.. stuningly black beauty.

Jack, what kind of seats are those? I always thought you had those Corbeau (sp?) units. The ones in the pic look much better.

Tim, the wheels and tires that are on the way will flatten out small countries.

And Adam, the seats are replicas of the Speedster/RS seats made by FVD in Germany. They're Recaro SPG Pole Positions, covered in leather. They're light, comfortable, and cool-looking.

They're also expensive, as $1150 a pop.

Kevin left the camera on, so if 'watching paint dry' is your thing, check out the link in my signature.

Nice work...
The primer I used was PCL two part. Base coat is PPG (triple black) and I used PPG again for the clear. One trick I used on this car was to sand the base coat with 1000 grit before applying the clear. I've found this makes the finished paint look "deeper".
