Currently looking on tire-rack at a new set of tires .
Narrow body 964 Cup speedlines 18” , in 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 . I last ran Pirelli Corsa’s for years and this time I’m thinking of getting something more “street” friendly . It seems for street tires I have a choice of Michelin ps2 , or Michelin supersport . Ps2 are $170 more , and in the grand scheme of things this isn’t a lot , but are they worth 170 more ? And then “the other” choice is either Michelin cup2 at $200 More again . Or the newer version of corsas , trofeo at $100 More on top ... With the mileage i expect to do , from past experience with the same car in England (964 c2) the tires will be “aged-out” before they “wear-out” . But that was always running “dot” corsas and not having enough nice weather to wear them out ![]() Car will be used on sunny days in socal , and might see a cone or two ![]() Last edited by ian c2; 10-18-2017 at 07:36 AM.. |

I put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ on my 87 in the spring. They are the best street tires I've had on a P-car. Smooth, quiet and sticky.

Costco currently has a promo of $70 off on a set of four and $.01 per tire for mount, balance, nitrogen and road hazard warranty. Well worth buying a $50 menbership if you don't have one! Beats TireRack and the other mailorder folks.

I Third the AS3+ recommendation -- they have ridiculously high treadwear ratings (500 on my 225/50-16 rears) and are "all season" rated -- meaning that they will be drivable and not become rocks when it gets cold. Don't think they're going to be good for me in this winter's Denver snows, but will clearly be better than summer only if unexpectedly caught in the slippery stuff.
Only have around 200 miles on them and, while they are a good bit more communicative than the continental extremecontact DW tires they replaced, too soon for me to push their performance envelope |

Thanks Uwanna
That's great info for others on here that want a set . My wheels are pretty rare and have been refurbished so I'm letting the refurbished handle the tire mounting .... His trusted tire guy sells Michelin , hence my preference for them . Im solely looking on tire-rack to see what's available and price comparisons between different tires Last edited by ian c2; 10-18-2017 at 11:33 AM.. |
