If you search for LED tail lights by a user named Spoke, there is a detailed discussion of this situation. He incorporates a resistor into his LED brake lights to address this problem. An add-on resistor will also solve the problem, and he sells one. Or you can just go back to regular tungsten filament bulbs for the two rear brake lights.

I would think adding a resistor defeats the purpose of LED bulbs (a lower draw on the charging system). I guess it matters how much resistance you need to add...
