Has anyone tried the Falken 451 tires? The traction rating is AA, temperature rating is A, wear rating of 280. The tread looks like a cross between the Yoko AVS100 and Goodyear F1. Price is about 2/3 rds the cost of the Goodyears. Also, the sidewall is designed to help protect the wheel rim from curb rash!
Thanks, Fred Cook '80 911SC |

I can tell you that everyone I know that runs Falken Azenis tires love them. From everthing I've heard it's a great tire and will be my next tire for the street when the time comes.

Falken Azenis
There's a very small but praiseworthy article on the Azenis in the Feb. 2003 Grassroots Motorsports. Lots of drivers are using them in Solo events. They all seem to like them very much.

They aren't available in very wide sizes, though, are they?

Widest Azenis Sport is 245-45-17.
Here's the link: http://www.falkentire.com/ BTW: Tire Rack doesn't seem to sell them.

Cant vouch for the model you mention, (different market) but I have been using Falkens on my 911 for some time. Now on my second set- I think the HP road tyres (V, Z, R) are generally very good value.
My car goes on the track, they hold up very well. stuart |

Several years ago I bought a car with Falkens and hated them. Car felt like it was on banana peels in the rain. Got rid of them even though they had very little wear. They probably have a better product now, but I don't want to risk it. I like my current Yokos.

I just think it would be cool to say "Hey, check out my Falken tires!"

Tires
Had a set on my 911 years ago, great street tires at a great
price. They dry rotted while car in storage and being rebuilt. (7+ years) I think TRW carries them.

I've got Falken 451's on my 16" Fuchs and can't fault them in any way. Dry grip is v.good and wet is fantastic (a big plus in Yorkshire!). I've not covered enough miles on them to get a good idea of how they're wearing.
