Has anyone used this place to rebuild their Targa top? Input appreciated.

Hi there,

Has anyone used Cars, Inc. to rebuild or repair their Targa Top? They are located in Bordentown, NJ. It seems like they do the work in stages depending on how necessary it is? Any other suggestions out there?

Here is the link:

thanks and regards,

Perhaps there are some PCA members from his region (Central or South Jersey) that can comment. I was surprised to see a split in the years for the Carrera: "Top inter-changeability chart"
'67-'68 ¹ '69-'73 ² '74-'85 '86-'89 (3.2) '89-'94 (C2 and C4)

I had mine done 2 years ago by Dan. 1st class job. Still looks brand new. Fits tight and doesn't leak.

I had the top and headliner done.

When you first get it back it will look loose, it needs to sit in the sun for a couple of days to tighten up.

Prompt work. Very helpful and friendly service.

No relationship, just a happy and satisfied customer.

I would recommend highly.

Just finished a series of e-mails to quiet down my top (not rebuilt by hm BTW). Good guy! Don't think I need a rebuild now, but when the time comes, Dan will be first on my list.

Another satisfied customer.

My understanding is he is one of the best in the business (no affiliation). Great deal of expertise and does what needs to be done.

Targa Repair

Jon,
He's is well known in the Porsche circle (NJ and neighboring states). He knows what he's doing and a very reliable guy. And most of all, you'll have peace of mind while waiting for it to come back.

Jon,

Have never heard anything but good comments about Dan, so it sure sounds like he is one of the best.

Yep, great guy, great service, and loves to chat about Porsches! BTW, he also has quite a stockpile of used parts and Fuchs at very reasonable prices.

I have talked to him several times and bought the bits I needed to redo my own top. Nice guy.

Be sure to have him fit the top to your car in person. Or, leave your car with him and let him get the fit right. Ideally you would strip both door so that he has complete access to the window alignment bolts. Believe me, it is worth having a pro. perform the fitting and detail work.

John
