Weight of insulation in 911 SC
I'm considering reducing the weight of a 911 SC by removing some (or all) sound and thermal insulation. Has anyone measured the weight of all the insulation that the car has in the cabin and engine compartment?
Apologies if this has been answered before. I was not able to find it using search. A link to any relevant source would be greatly appreciated. |

If I remember correctly the sound pad in the back that covers the rear seats and upwards to the window area was 35 lbs, maybe a tad more...there was a thread on lightening the 911 that measured everything...something like 'so and so lbs in 3 days' etc.
That is the heaviest lump....I've dropped my SC a few hundred pounds or more...believe I am at 2500 lbs with a full tank of gas so in the 2390-2400 dry.

438 lbs gone in 5 days - My Build Story
The insulation in the rear of the cockpit adds up too. I went rear seat delete and insulation delete and lost over 50 pounds there. |
