911 SC Replacement Keys
Several years ago my original ignition and door key were stolen. I had a replacement key that I had a copy made of before it broke. It works for ignition and doors, but not the glove box or trunk.
Any idea if Porsche has the codes to have new original keys re-cut based on the VIN, like Jaguar Classic and other high end Europeans? |

I've had mine cut from the VIN. My old one was a copy of a copy of a... So I got one from the dealership and it's great. Also it gives the ignition lock and doors a lot less grief being correct for the lock.

It sounds like you have a working valet key I assume for a Targa? Only the Targas had a lock on the trunk handle. For my 1981 SC, the key cuts for the valet key (red key) and the skeleton key (black key) the cuts are identical. The grooves are different for the valet and skeleton keys. If you have a working valet key, you should be able to buy a black key from our host and use your working valet key to cut it and you should have a key that will also open your glove box and frunk. The caveat is taking it to an experienced locksmith.

It is a Targa and I was able to get the replacement cut from a "replacement" valet (?) since I do have an experienced locksmith. Thanks for the help!
