Can you open your door latch with the door open?
Maybe a stupid question but ....
With your door open, if you manually turn the latch to the closed position, can you pop the latch using either outside or inside door handles? Doors are ripped apart and I'm chasing some issues. Thanks Rod |
hi..very simple..unlock the locking rod(PULL IT UP) and now you can open from outside handle or inside pull handle

What issue are you chasing?
|
2 issues.
Passenger inside handle would not work and it felt like it was locked. Drivers side would not lock with the key (central locking is working) I took the latch apart on the passenger side and cleaned it up. It now works (no idea why) and you can unlatch it with the door open when you couldn't before using the outside handle. |
hi..it is possible that your door handle trigger sensor is either of or not working

That's interesting. I have a brand new passenger side latch mechanism sitting at home because I had issues with mine, we can pull parts from it if you need it. I fixed mine, but my issue was my door kept popping open.
Sounds like you fixed some of it, what's not working at this point? |

If with my door open I flip the latch on the vertical part of the door, then either inside or outside handle will unlatch it. |
Do you still have the alarm in the car? When I removed mine it does just what yours does. Looking for the fix myself.

Thanks for all the help peoples.
I've ordered 2 new rods and will go back to tackling this. |
Update. So much fun having a 31 year old car with 400,000 km.
Passenger side appears to be working fine now (would not open from the inside) after cleaning and lubing the latch and replacing the arm for the actuator. I haven't put the door card back on yet tho. Adjusting the actuator up or down relieves stress on the inside handle and makes it feel smoother. The drivers side outdoor handle was opening the door when in the lock position and didn't work at all sometimes. Turns out the bushing in the latch mechanism has worn so the arm on the right in the picture is leaning out. Now it catches the arm to the left when locked and unlocks the car. When unlocked the one on the left goes back so the one on the right misses it all together hence leaving the outside handle inoperable. Need new latch? Are we havng fun yet? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1510000055.jpg |
Hi Rod have a look why is the latch in open position ,the spring should be far back to the left.
