I was given a mint 2.4 badge recently and seeing that the big bore 2.0L 914 engine in my 912 displaces 2.4L, I wanted to stick it on my engine grille for fun. The problem is, there's no pins (or anything) on the back of it so I'm left wondering if these were glued on (not too likely) or what.
Anyone know for sure? This is the perfect excuse to run out to the garage and pop the lid on your early 911! Thanks! ![]()

The originals were held in place with very small screws. But any good quality double-sided trim adhesive tape should work.

beg to differ
The 72-77 deck lid grill had a small metal piece, aprox. 3.5X.75 inch riveted to the 7th and 8th grill runners. The back of the badge is recessed to fit snug over the metal base and is bonded with double sided adhesive.
Hope this helps. All the best! Roger Grago PORSCHE Newport Beach R Gruppe #27 73 RS-T 70 2.4 MFI VW Bus |

I think we're saying the same thing. The badge assembly is screwed (or riveted -- I think you're correct about that) to the grille. The badge is a two-piece assembly, though.
