I did pretty much this exact thing 10 years ago or so. Inserted a 10 buck quartz movement and change the AA battery annually. It keeps better time since it doesn't use the car battery which gets disconnected from time to time.

That is brilliant! A good, simple fix.

The slope is not slippery; in fact it is entirely frictionless.

I was putting the quarter windows back in my car after getting the car painted. there's a metallic piece the goes on the body, looks like this.

Well I come to find that it required a strip of caulk down beneath it and the body. Can't find the Porsche part number for it but I sure as hell wasn't going to wait for it so I took out m plumber's putty that's what was basically there anyway, except in a neat little strip. I strung a long bead along the entire length and then bolted the metal strip down. Perfect and instant and, well seeing this clock reminds me of the many ways to skin a cat if you're not a purist mentality.

Bracket I made out of an aluminum strip to replace a huge EGR valve and bracket that I deleted.

The replacement non egr filter car bracket was something stupid like $95! H3ll naw. It's tucked back behind #3 and you can't even see it anyway.

I did the same on my front horn relocating. They are up and never to be seen again and the Carrera brackets were like $300.00

Cool airbox straps - very industrial machine age looking.

Once i have had in my hands a 1969-911 which just came to California after a long journey in Russia.
It was so rusty underneaths, someone mounted to the bottom two rail road rails just to keep it strait.Too bad i do not have any pics.. The car was raised to it`s max for clearance;-)
