Pretty rare gear too. Worth a decent bit.

That 29:21 TL .724 gearset is a great option for 5th gear when installing a 3.6 motor behind a 915 8:31R&P transaxle. I have one for my transplant. The nice thing is with the extra HP and torque, you can cruise
80mph at 3000RPM, kinda like overdrive and get better gas mileage. Absolutley love it! Yes Matt, they are getting rather rare and pricey.

Not too pricey. I’ve started making them both for 3.6 guys and for Carreras wanting to stay stock ratio. Mine will cost you $875 new including dog teeth.

Are Hurth gears generally desireable, also 1-4?

Most of the gears in Porsche transmissions, from the 1950s well into the 1980s, were manufactured by Hurth or Getrag.
Both companies produced very high quality gears. Hurth was acquired by Gleason in 1995. Gleason-Hurth Tooling | Gleason ![]()
