Any got some Pix of an SC with a GT2 or 3.6 Wing?

Thinking of adding a new wing without adding the turbo flare and I wanted to see what these wings look like without adding the flairs any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's too much tail without flares, IMHO.

Bones 02-10-2003 04:04 PM

sorry i'll take it off..lol

Fosgate911 02-10-2003 04:35 PM

Bones nice car!!!!! Looks ok to me IMHO the GT2 without flares is a bit much but without the scoops they look fine. You wouldn't happen to have a few other pix maybe some wider shots from front and back?

It's easy to get carried away. I've got an even bigger top wing on the way. ;)

Here's some interesting facts for those of you running the stock biplane wing w/ 4 adjustable positions
  1. angle = 0&deg Cd = .34 Rear lift = -119N
  2. angle = 3&deg Cd = .34 Rear lift = -297N
  3. angle = 6&deg Cd = .35 Rear lift = -535N
  4. angle = 9&deg Cd = .36 Rear lift = -713N

All data @ 270 kph

Those things actually produce downforce! and w/o increasing drag too much!

john_colasante 02-10-2003 06:13 PM

Bill, I'm not sure if I'm more amazed at the fact you knew that data or the fact that you were able to make that little "d' and a degree sign in your post...

Chuck Moreland 02-10-2003 06:17 PM

Bill

Are those Cd figures for the entire car with wing?

Bill Verburg 02-10-2003 06:28 PM

John is probably looking at the same book I am, perhaps he can check my understanding. I believe that those #s are for the whole car which is a 993RS w/ Clubsport option

The normal 993RS has the following #s w/ the normal small rear wing

Cd = .33 FA lift = 178 RA lift = 0

cstreit 02-10-2003 06:37 PM

Bill,

What book is that?

Bill Verburg 02-10-2003 06:41 PM

The "Service Infrormation Technik '96 911 Carrera RS"
wkd 499 620

It's full of tasty little tid bits.

Bill, these numbers are valid for the whole car BUT the assumtption is that the car is a Carrera RS (993) with the club sport front/rear spoilers and sideskirts. See photo.

All I know is that it makes a heck of a difference in triple-digit sweepers.

(And that's the old, baby-size wing.)

Bones - your car look great... its just my own opinion, and well, you know what they say about opinions...

Jack, I think you've been inspired by that car in the background of your picture. Now that's a wing!

Bones 02-11-2003 01:22 AM

stuck to the road

Thanks for the info Bill......in all honesty the best performance improvement I've made to my '78 SC was to fir the 964 RS bodykit....my car is now very much lighter turns quicker and sticks to the road like never before ...the 3.8 wing is literally an enormous improvement....and I think it's in keeping with the updated look it now hashttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/20.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/netP2.jpg

Mikkel 02-11-2003 03:44 AM

I think the RS 3,8 spoiler looks great, but in my opinion you need turbo fenders to balance the overall look.

pwm74

Do you have more pics of that car?

Bones 02-11-2003 04:15 AM

Maybe they are on my shopping list Mikkel?......
