A great and under-rated Porsche. The company I worked for in the 80s bought and ran one in the Middle East Rally Challenge. A modern '73 RS, loads of fun......

Is that the SC, or the Carrera they built? It's too high off the ground to make a good street car...

SC/RS built for the 1984 model year. All the suspension and brakes are off a Turbo. Street version came with gas heater for your driving pleasure!

What's the difference between the SC/RS and the 953 ?
I'd like to build one out of a 964. Then you'd have some grip. Plus coilovers. ![]() ![]() ![]()

heres the information form the Symbolic Motors site. The car has been sold, but it doesn't say how much. There is also a pretty good photo album too. http://www.symbolicmotors.com/framesets/page2.html
This car was originally built by DR AutoSport in 1984 to contest the FIA World Rally Championship. Only 20 factory-built SC/RS series of Porsche race cars were ever completed for the 1984 season. Demand for these FIA homologated Group B race cars soon outstripped Porsche’s supply of cars. As such, Porsche’s client service racing department readily made components available for a variety of private teams. The SC/RS series of cars used a near stock 911SC shell as a starting point. All factory welds were reinforced and additional bracing and stiffening panels were installed in many of the car's normally unstressed areas. Porsche designed long-travel suspension components and protective alloy plates were fitted to the cars undersides. The type 930/18 engines of 3.0 and 3.2-liter displacement produced 250 – 275 horsepower. They used a highly tuned Bosch Mechanical fuel injection system that had first appeared on Porsche Sports Racers over 15 years earlier. Bodies of the SC/RS were devoid of any creature comforts, soundproofing or insulation. A massive oil-cooler shared the front compartment with an oversized fuel cell
