Does anyone know where to get the dash insert like in the pictures below for a SC dash. I will like to insert my tartan fabric on the dash of my SC

They are just using the early dash trim. I don't know if our host sells them but you can buy it on eBay for a little over $100. Then just apply the material of your choice.

Has anyone done it on a SC dash, any tips on how to make it look factory? Any supplier better than other for this?

I did it with basketweave vinyl on my 1985. I got a supplier of the aluminum trim on ebay to sell me longer pieces and came up with a custom solution. See post 88 here:
so this is how a backdate project starts... The aluminum trim pieces should only cost about $100-150. The challenge is getting the material cut precisely, laying it down straight and true and having just the right amount of glue. Last edited by SpyderMike; 07-27-2017 at 08:35 AM.. |

I just ordered (and rec'd) the kit from Stuttgart-Classica in the U.K. for our '86 Targa. Very well made but haven't fitted it yet. They also make a very cool set of vent wing side view mirrors, again not fitted yet. Good luck on your project.

SpyderMike, you did exactly what I need. I have also deleted the Fresh Air controls and the radio.
Nvr2mny, I contacted the guys at Stuttgart Classica a while ago asking if they make a piece with the fresh air delete, but is not available yet. For now I have two(2) radio delete plates on the dash, but I need to get someting like the one SpyderMike did only with my Tartan insert. ![]()

Will a kit like this work with the only additional work needed is the corner AC vent openings?

Did you see how I did it in my thread? I ordered two long pieces from the supplier. One for left of the steering wheel and one for the right. I cut then to length. I cut and glued the cloth in and then used double sided tape to adhere it to a Rennline dash piece.

Yes, I saw your approach, but I am looking to keep, AC vents, glovebox, and acc. And knee pad. Yours looks great! but I need something that fits the SC original dash pattern w/o fresh air or radio openings.

Isn't the trim on a SC-dash glued on?
You could tear it off and cover it with the tissue.
