Question on Boge struts with Bilstein inserts
So I've read all the threads on the clunking strut inserts due to poor fitment. Mostly caused by mis-matched inserts, too many strut part numbers, gland nuts etc. I have a clunking set of Bilstein inserts in my 86-89 struts. I know about the shim method etc. to quiet them. My question is this, if you order the correct 34-001141 Bilstein inserts for 86-89 struts, and have the correct gland nuts, is there any reason to expect that these may end up clunking also, or is it always a case of mis-matched parts that causes this. I don't want to buy a correct new set of HD's for my struts, and then end up shimming them anyways. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Steve

I've done tons of those and never had a clunker. Gotta get that gland nut tight.

Question on Boge struts with Bilstein inserts
I had exactly that problem with my Elephant Racing / Bilstein inserts. Chuck was thinking that it might be a batch of glant nuts having the issue. I had to put washers in the bottom. No big deal.
