Which first Master or Slave Clutch Cylinder

Replacing both master and slave cylinder for clutch on 88 G50. One or both have begun to fail. To reduce the amount of brake fluid leaking I thought I'd do the first since the only fluid that will leak is the approx 2" downward section into the master cylinder since the other end (which is higher) is still closed so it won't let any more flow. Then button of the front and do the rear/slave cylinder and bleed the system.
Make sense? Or am I overthinking this...wouldn't be the first time, or last.

You're overthinking it .

I used a pair of hose pinch pliers / clamps on the blue hose that feeds the master cylinder. Once you disconnect the fitting on the slave cylinder, you will get some fluid dripping but its not too much. You can loosen the hose where it comes out at the tunnel so its not dripping on top of the transmission. Inspect the rubber portion between the tunnel and the slave cylinder, it may be dry rotted or have bulges / blisters.

I think the most difficult part is getting the mounting bolts for the slave cylinder started, its do-able though!

I would change the slave. you may get off with just changing it. welcome to hell, there is a special level in hell for people who bleed clutchs.

Thanks, I have a trick for the master cylinder bolts...wedge a small screw driver between the bolt and the master cylinder body, which holds it in place. I'll check the hose at the other end as well. I wonder if that can be replaced separately? I assume so.

I did the master as part of a pedal cluster rebuild, then I did the slave along with the line from the tunnel.
