Question 1983 911 VIN NUMBER Question

Dear Friends

I have this 1983 911SC Targa and I would like to understand why the VIN number on my car does not match

On the Trunk area near the smuggler box there is this one stamped
WP0ZZZ91ZDS160812

On the door jamb there is this sticker
WP0EA0912DS160812

So, which is the correct one and why there´s two distinct numbers?

Thank you all

Hello,

I see, but why I dont have the WP0ZZZ91ZDS160812 on the decal as well?
Which one should I use as far as concern Tittle and documents?
I have no idea what engine I have :-)

The ZZZ represents an unassigned chassis in the body shop. It is carried along with ROW cars. The OEA represents a USA build car

The chassis in the front trunk always gets stamped WPOZZZ..... because at that point in the build of the car, it's final destination (Europe, USA, Canada, Japan etc.) is yet to be determined. The "correct" VIN for your car is the one on the sticker in the drivers side door jamb AND should match the number on the metal tag attached to the inside of the windshield frame or "A" post on the drivers side of the car, about 4 inches above the top of the dash. Do you see that?

Dear Friends,
Thanks for the fast reply!
The number on the metal tag on the A pillar match the final numbers on the decal on the door Jamb
