Clear or Amber lenses for fog lights. I want to know what you think.

Rocks have damaged one of my clear fog lenses and I am toying with the idea of switching to amber lenses. I want to know what the voice of the forum says.
Clear or Amber?

I will give you a pair of ambers if you want them. You only pay shipping. They do look really cool when lit. PM if interested.

Pssst. You could always do a poll.

I bought clear replacements from our host. I haven’t installed them yet but I prefer the clear.

I have Hella Amber fog lights on my 1973.5T and they add originality and function. When not in use, I keep them covered with black vinyl elastic covers, which I highly recommend. As too which is more effective in foggy conditions? The amber penetrate well and probably better. That's my 2-cents.

On your orange car, I'd say clear lenses. The yellow ones wouldn't compliment the orange very well. I tried yellow lenses on my light blue car, and wound up going back to clear as well. But hey, it's easy to switch if you ever change your mind. And another vote for Euro H4 headlights. I installed them, plus the relay kit on mine and love them

I agree. Pulling off yellow lenses, really depends on the cars color. Its a personal preference but the neutral color cars (Black, white, silvers, some blues) seem to don the yellow lenses a bit better

Is it for functionality or you only care about how it looks? If you drive in dense fog, yellow might cut through a little better (although I doubt it makes a huge difference), if for looks only I'd stick with clear especially on the orange car.

FYI learn about the yellow lights: http://blog.streetsideauto.com/car-enthusiasts/are-yellow-fog-lights-better/

I don't think the fog lights do a lot functionally and there isn't a lot of real difference between white or amber light, so I think it comes down to cosmetics and which you prefer.

I bought a set of amber lenses for my SC. My problem was that I discovered a badly corroded reflector that had some previous owner or mechanic had shoddily attempted to repair. So I bought a pair of Hella amber fogs instead. Here's what they look like.

As an any good chemistry teacher would point out, "clear" only means that it is transparent. Iced tea and tinted windows are both clear. The word we're looking for is colorless. I vote colorless.

Not this. If you take away all the goofy styling of the 70's cars it's the same as forward dating a long hood. The square fogs poking out and snorkel headlight washers are unique to the era. I like my ugly periscope headlight washers and square fogs.

As for the colorless or yellow. I really do dig when the headlights and fog lights are yellow. Another goofy thing I like. Otherwise colorless.
