Any experience with GTN Automotive Targa tops?

Cost a pretty penny but look interesting. Has anyone here tried one or seen one in use?

Nice unit but the breathtaking price of 5,500 Euros plus shipping will make it rare beast on this side of the pond.

No noise at all. Fits very tight, actually tighter then the vinyl one.

Looks clear like the Saratoga top. There’s also a carbon fiber one that folks have been working on. I love the feeling with the tinted top, but that is quite an expense. Here’s some pics of my Saratoga Top that was available in the 80s for comparison.

The price for that one makes me wonder what my factory hard top is worth?
No helicopter view, but quieter than my fold up and nice for winters in Oregon.

Lol, me too!
Towards the bottom of this page in his thread.
I junked it after a few trips, didn’t seal well. Kept the frame for parts if I ever need them for my 2 folding tops.

That looks great! Thanks for posting a pic of the factory hard top. I just picked up a 74 Targa and the manual makes reference to a hard top. Got me curious as I had never seen one. Any more pics? Is it steel or how's it made?
Unless it takes the thread too far off topic...

I had one on my old ‘75 Targa. It was made out of a fiberglass type of material like the one on 914s. It did seal well, but had unique latches to attach it to the windshield frame. Even fit in the frunk with special front brackets, but wouldn’t fit once the power brake booster moved the position of the brake master cylinder.
