Flofit fitting to an SC?

I picked up a nice Flofit yesterday to try in my SC. The seat had last been used in an E21 BMW and comes with sliders and brakcets for that car, as well as an adapter bracket (a simple, square metal frame) of not-entirely-clear provenance that the PO had gotten with the seat years ago.

I understand, from a bit of searching, that if I use the sliders on the seat, I will need spacers of an inch or so to bolt the seat to the factory floor mounts. Can I remove the sliders that came with the seat and bolt the seat directly to the factory sliders? (As, I understand, can be done with Recaro L-series seats?)

I'd like to have some idea of what, if anything, I may need before I take my driver's seat out.

Well, if nothing else, can someone tell me what the mounting hole spacing is on stock seats?

I have Flofits in my turbo. I used the slider they provided, but I drilled holes in the rear of the mount to align to the factory floor mount. It is a PIA to get the rear bolts in even with the seat slid fully forward but it can be done. I used no spacers because I did not want to lose head room, but it has been years since I installed them and I may have forgotten what I did to mount the slider to the seat.

Flofits in an SC --- IIRC...

Hey Otter - great seats. Super comfortable. I simply swapped out my original rails from my Porsche sport seats, and put those rails on the Flofits. I then used steel spacers I got from an Ace Hardware parts wall to elevate the seats to allow the slider mechanism to work properly. I'm short, so the spacers were beneficial. If you are especially tall, it might be a problem.

I did this a couple of years ago, but I remember it being relatively intuitive. My flofits came out of a BWM, so the seat rails didn't seem possible to mount or modify to mount. I read somewhere that the Flofits copied Recaro, so the holes on the seat bottom line up perfectly to attach the porsche rails.

I have an extra set of rails if you need a pair for a reasonable price.

Tista,

Good to hear that. The sliders and brackets on my seat are from a BMW E21 and obviously won't work in the 911, so I'll be doing the same thing you did. Good to know that they do, in fact, match the Recaro bolt pattern. If I find that I need or would like an extra set of rails, I'll PM you. Thanks for the offer.
