So how much? If you were ever in a collision, would you be TKO if you were in this thing?

Why can't they make a monocoque out of that stuff and a few dozen feet of chrome-moly tubing? That would be sexy. As it is, they're nice body panels, but the weight savings over fiberglass doesn't justify the high cost and lack of repairability, in my opinion.

You know, I didn't even ask the cost. For the GT3RS cars I saw that were using these CF panels I don't think the price differential over fiberglass was an issue...they just wanted the lower center of gravity and lower weight. I wish that I had made a note of some of the individual panel weights as they seemed incredibly low...the only one that I remember for sure was the third brake light panel (between the rear window and deck lid) which weighed 6 ounces.

These panels are from Kelly Moss Racing http://www.kellymoss.com/indexmain.htm. It's kind of a fun website to look around in...they'll even put a 993 rear suspension in your 911 if you want

Jack, of course carbon fiber is repairable. It just requires liberal application of $$$.

You'd save even more weight by not painting it and going with that cool CF weave look.

They better have some UV inhibitors in the resin or it will yellow - and then not look so sexy!

I'm with Jack - I think there is a market for a 911 monocoque - carbon fiber - chromalloy tube frame. Coil over 993 suspension set up, scoop up front for your monster oil cooler. Take your hard point items and bolt em on to this baby with your 3.6 and g-50 - big tires and GO!

I won't list out the individual piece prices. But if you up add all the pieces -- you're at about 20K.

Damn that's sexy. Too bad I don't have any children; if I put them on ebay, I think I could just barely afford it...
