OP is a long way away from gauges. He is also a long way away from the Bosch book on CIS as recommended by Tony. Which I have in electronic form. He needs to understand how the system works. How can the PET manual or a Bosch book written for professionals do that if there is not a lot of prose wrapped around the core info? I say Bruce Anderson's 911 Performance Handbook, Wayne's book - only because the young crowd says so (I own them) - and Probst's Book. |

Practice makes you better..........
Jason,
Read and visualize how the instructions are done and performed. It might take you a few practices to make the test works but there is really nothing sophisticated about CIS troubleshooting. Just be aware of several safety precautions involve in dealing with pressurized combustible liquid like gasoline. No smoking, no open flame, no source of ignition near and around your work area that is well ventilated. Have a standby fire extinguisher handy. Better to be safe than sorry. No matter how good and experience you are, you will commit some mistakes like leaving a fitting loose or a fuel hose disconnected. And I made these blunders so many times in spite of earnest desire to operate safely. The key is awareness and presence of mind. Do not do any pressure testing until you fully understand how CIS works. Reading the Bosch K-Jetronic Manual again and again will give you a better outlook at things. Good luck. Tony |
Are you interested in learning how cars work, in general ? Like how does the Otto cycle engine work? How do brakes work? How does the suspension work? Or do you already know all that, and are looking for details on Porsche engine characteristics?
