Question OT computer ?

I'm thinking about doing custom graphics for autos (racecars, Carrera stuff, local rice (hey, it's $), etc...). I'm confident I have the appropriate background & demeanor to try such a business, but I need some help from you computer guys. I'm OK on marketing and applying the product.

Can anyone suggest a source for software (existing auto-specific would be great), scanners, and the like?

Any help, or experiences, are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Brian

If you are referring to vinyl lettering and graphics, I may be of some help. My brother-in-law owned a sign company for several years and vinyl graphics were a good size part of his business. I was often recruited to help with large applications. Where are you located? My bros-in-law used, and was very happy with a company called Beacon Graphics, in New Jersey. They have a website at: http://www.signmaking.com/
It is a family business and the owner, Tim Rosetti, has been in the business for many years, he is extremely knowledgable and helpful. He can steer you in the right direction in terms of equipment and such. If you have any specific questions, let me know and I will ask my bros-in-law directly.

Cool

Thanks Larry. I'm in the Los Angeles area.

Is the technology you mentioned the same as that used for producing graphics such as those used to apply to the sides of early Carreras? Or for producing various styles of numerals to be applied to race cars?

If it is applicable, I'd be happy to deal with any high quality domestic company (it's a small country now). Let me know.

Thank you,
Brian

Jose DeLaCruz is a fellow NNJR PCA member. If you're not in the North East (IE: direct competitor), I am sure he can help you.

I don't know what they used on early Carreras, but yes, vinyl graphics are what is primarily used on race cars these days.
The equipment has really advanced technically since the first vinyl graphic cutting machines came out (in the mid 80's I think) Now there are machines that not only cut vinyl graphics but print very sophisticated graphics suitable for outdoor use before cutting them to the sign shape. (you can see all this on the Beacon Graphics Website.) You should check out the other link to ...(a fellow PCA member should always come first.) Good luck

Z-man: I went to the website you gave and saw that Jose did the work at Havana Cigars in Matawan NJ...I go there all the time for my cigars (although I have not been in a while.)
