Best of luck. Cars with family history are always special. Post some pics when you get a chance. How long has it been sitting?
If you're in Lodi, CA, you should have a fair amount of Pelican help nearby... |

Piece of cake.......

Rick, When was the last time the engine ran? You would need the following tools if you want to diagnose the problem/s: a). Fuel pressure gauge kit (mandatory). b). Inductive timing light (optional). You need to learn the following: 1). How to use and install a CIS pressure gauge in your engine. 2). Learn to test run the FP using the FP relay socket’s terminals #87a and #30. If you are not familiar with above procedures, don’t worry. There are a lot of guys in this forum to assist you. We all started like you years ago. Are you interested to do the troubleshooting? Do not be intimidated. It is very easy and simple. All you need to do is keep an open mind and learn to follow instructions. That’s it. Tony |

It’s been sitting for two years on a battery tender. Must have a bad cell in the battery because it’s dead as a door nail. Also, I probably need to drain the gas don’t you think? There’s not much in there, and it smells ok but I will probably still drain it.

Two years is nothing! Get that baby running!! Put a new battery and fresh gas in her and she probably fires right up.

I would add fresh oil to the list but that's it. Turn the key, these cars will amaze you...be patient with the smoke on initial start-up, all motors are different.

New battery, drain and fill the gas, make sure it has oil, and it bet it will fire. Before driving I would definitely replace all the fluids and complete a good tune-up. Your tires are probably shot based on age, and don't be surprised if one or more of the brake calipers is frozen and needs to be rebuilt. You might find some additional little stuff along the way, but overall these are robust cars.

And post some pictures of the 911. Don't get so discouraged about getting it running. So what if it's been sitting. She wants to run- so make that happen. Fire her up.
