I cracked and chipped so much paint. :( It was already cracked in a few places through out the body, so I knew I was going to need a respray at some point. This just means its going to need to happen sooner. I'm going to be cleaning and painting the fender wells here pretty soon, then saving up my pennies to get the rest done. If anyone knows a good body shop in the East Bay let me know. I want to do a window out respray, but I suspect its going to need a good amount of prep. I'd also like to have a few holes patched (antenna, rockers, etc.) and maybe even the sunroof. |

Havent had a chance to update in a while. Wanted to start off with a nice shot I took over the holidays. The weather was nice and I was able to take her out to my favorite brewery, Drakes.

(Literally hacked out the old one and just tacked in a new one) They let the muffler hang when mounting it up so the flange is no where near the stock location. This left the straight out muffler looking crooked and sad. Luckily, Brian over at Rarlyl8 also does CARB legal cat pipes. So we should be sorted out in a few weeks. I'll get a whole post up documenting that when its looking good. |

The good news, I now have a budget to go a little crazy with the SC. I have a bunch of updates to post, but I've been buying so many parts its hard to keep track of whats being done. Oh and don't worry, the GST is gone, but it will not be my last 997.2. ;) So, what have I been up to... I purchased a 1-2 muffler from M&K and went to install it on my car. I couldn't be happier with the quality of product I received, top notch. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1552589966.JPG Unfortunately, when the previous owner had the CAT replaced they simply cut out the old one and had the new one tacked in with the muffler hanging. I'm glad this thread is up and running again, as it inspired me previously with my own build. I bought a fiberglass rear valence from M&K, and it was very high quality.
Speaking of valences, if you (or anyone else) would like to trade your front non-foglight valence for one with fogs, let me know. |

I wanted to share another little project I tackled, a light-weight "sound system."
The original plan was to take an old Anker Sound core and jam in into the single din location from the original stereo. It was a snug fit but I was running into issues trying to turn it on and off, not being able to reach the buttons from under the dash as I had hoped. So, I did a little research and found a very simple bluetooth sound module. I then took the speaker apart and soldered up the new board removing the battery as well (saving even more weight). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1552678092.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1552678092.JPG The board hooks up to a DC/DC usb converter I purchased and wired to the ignition power that previously went to the stereo. When I start the car up my phone automatically syncs up to the bluetooth and I can play music from my phone. The quality is as good as any portable speaker. Its just the right amount for someone that just wants the option of music, but prefers hearing the car. I eventually want to get a better box created that fits directly in the din location. Its also possible to get a more powerful amp module and set of speakers. And dont worry, I'm going to install a backdated trim that has a nice mesh cover over the speakers. While I was in there I also added a bunch of inline fuzes for the dashlights and stuff like that. |
That is great idea, you would think someone would market a single DIN bluetooth speaker like this. Good work man.

Yea, I was surprised that I couldnt find something like this. I did find a few center speaker sets, but they are all discontinued and were over $150. I'd guess you could produce a product for under $30 and sell a bunch of them.
