IROC front bumper signal/hazard fixture option
are there any other than the OE single signal ambers? I have recently found a front bumper for my 75 in a favorite dumpster I frequent at a local race shop that does not have recessed signal housing. there are obvious locations where the light housings had been removed and glassed over so spotting them should be straight forward.
I'm considering something a little different that maybe has been done previously and I'm not aware? maybe MW haS done it? I'm thinking something like the R taillights recessed and flush mounted for the amber fixtures. mounted at the wide side of the OE light locations with a flush mount that follows the contour of the bumper yet the fixture protrudes some to meet the side marker requirement. I am aware the IROC bumpers with the single amber does not meet this requirement but if the phallic shape of the R rear fixture protrudes even some beyond the bumper surface as it returns to the body might kill two birds with a single fixture? thoughts on this? remember milt's bumper? t

Not sure if this will help, but it's where my R lights came from and they have a zillion options if you dig.

Maybe put a 911r taillight in the brake cooling duct (clear/amber type) and add a surface mount hella vintage side marker to the flat area on the side of the upper bumper area? These side markers I think were used on speedsters:

^ I was thinking the same or possibly later model Euro side markers moved to the bumper.

picture is only in my minds eye currently. was wondering if anyone had an examples of what I'm considering or something akin to it.

So here are some quick pics of my R taillights. If I understand you are thinking of a recessed side mount or a recessed forward facing mount? It could work either way and would certainly be different (not a bad thing). I can see how the round of the R lights might go with the round of the headlights.

yes, exactly. I would like a single fixture forward facing like in the next to last shot and protruding just a bit like the last photo on the curved portion of the bumper so the illumination can(may) be detected from the side some.
I suppose I need to find a fixture akin to the R taillights in amber like the tail & brake light on your R's and work forward from there. I'm no fiberglass pro, but getting the fixture would allow me to fab up a recessed "cup" of sorts that will be glassed to the bumper to house/affix the lamp to. thanks for the images evan they demonstrate what I had in mind perfectly.

I picked mine up from Dave at TRE. Incredibly nice gentleman who graciously spent far more time helping me out than I expected. He’s an excellent resource and might be able to help you out with your project.

evan, thank you for the participation here. wondering if there are any part numbers on the hella fixtures included in you tail light set up? anything on the lenses that may help me locate the desired fixture?

found these, but they don't indicate if the bulb is yellow or not. there are a number of options with this fixture some stating brakes & tail with this one linked saying signal lamp. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hla-001259061/overview/
the clear lenses might be cool. many available from European suppliers, but not much in the US edit- ordered a set that wont even be shipped for two weeks fitting my schedule perfectly.. considering the black & white nature of the catalog shots that are across the entire line, brake & tails look the same I'm hoping they're yellow... better yet, clear with yellow bulbs.. need the fixtures before I can pick a Dixie cup to model my FG recesses after.

My running light/backup combo lens is marked with the number K23269. You could use the clear lens with an amber lap. Other options would be to check out the Stealth lamps our host carries which I personally use in my clear front corners, buy clear lamps and color them amber with a stained glass pen from a craft store (I purchased one at Michael’s) or pick up “bulb condoms” which you could find at an import tuner shop and place those over the clear lamp. The stained glass pen works pretty well but you would have to reapply periodically because it does fade over time.

If you have city lights - or the ability to have them - in what looks like Euro H4 lights in the white car, you could repurpose them for signal or running lights if you don't want to mount lights on the bumper surface

I’m out in Fairfield. I’d definitely take you up on the offer except that all the intake runners are out while I replace the injector o-rings and isolators.
PM me and we can see about sometime in the future.
