CIS gauges recommendation
I've never had an FI car, so can anyone recommend a gauge set so I can start to learn about the CIS on my '74 Carrera? thanx steve
|
Since the CIS system really is basically a manual system (an air flaplifting a needle valve), a fuel pressure tested is really the only test instrument you need. There are electronic add-on devices to compensate for cold start, etc., but basically you only need to know the fuel pressure.
I seem to recall that either Excellence or Panorama had some recent article explaining the fuel injection systems that you may want to research. Enjoy your car in good health! |
I just bought the one our hosts sells. Works great and has all the fittings you need included.

I've had good luck with OTC products, would there model 4480 be appropriate? thanx steve

That model doesn't look appropriate to me. It doesn't seem to have required shutoff valve. You want something that looks like this:
Pelican part number is TOL-SGT-33865 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1516157454.jpg |
thanx so much. s

The one from our host is out of stock. There are several available on Amazon that are approximately $100, as well as others under $50. Looks like most of the lower priced ones say they won’t work with Bosch CIS, such as this one:
Detool Fuel Injection Pump Gas Gasoline Pressure Tester gauge Kit Car Tools for Cars & Truck https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073GJ48Y1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_59BdBb5WZSC8X What’s different about this kit that makes it incompatible with CIS? Wrong fittings? |
