Porsche Crest My First Porsche: 1982 911 SC

This is my first Porsche. I have always wanted a very clean, white, air cooled 911. After much research, an example that exceeded my expectations came up for sale locally.

- 75k Miles; All records from new
- Chiffon White all original paint
- Brown Interior in excellent condition
- Very strong engine (185-190 across the board)
- I'm smitten

I plan to keep her very close to original. I will add the Porsche Classic Radio, and a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel with spacer to better fit my long legs. That's about it! Lots of driving planned with my wife by my side and daughter in the back!

Agree - love that color. Are those 7" / 9" Fuchs? They look great.

Fair warning: your daughter may never let you sell it...

Beauty, congrats and welcome (from one aircooled porsche noob to another). This forum is the biggest group of enablers, so beware.

Love looking at white cars and how they accentuate the precise shut lines and panel gaps. There is no substitute

Great first 911!! Think out the wheel position as I believe (from my race car builds) there are different length adapters/spacers that can move it toward you for an optimum driving position if needed. Engine has never been worked on? Was a leakdown done with the compression check? Have the headstuds looked at for piece of mind if you haven't already...

Awesome care and neat color. My 2 cents would be to drive it for a while then make changes. Most of the things I did right away I later changed or regretted. You can save a lot of $ this way. Enjoy it!

Agreed. I plan to keep her original as possible, but I am quite tall and need to adjust the steering wheel position. Thanks for the kind words!

I'm glad you raised the steering wheel issue. One thing that concerns me about the JWest eccentric spacer is that it causes the steering wheel to have an elliptical rotation pattern. Whereas spacers will just move the steering wheel closer to me and preserve the circular rotation.

I am about 6'3. What do you recommend?

The engine has been worked on and the common SC issues have all been addressed. The compression test showed 185 and 190 across all 6 cylinders. I will have the studs looked at.

I believe they are the 7/9 Fuchs. The original owner added these.

Thank you, it took about 2 years to find. Then, when I wasn't really looking hard it popped up on Craigslist. The previous owner was a true gentleman. I'm still in shock.

I agree about the original steering wheel and I will likely be purchasing a new original replacement from Porsche Classic. I would also like to try the Prototipo because I have been lusting after one since I first got into Porsche. If the MOMO doesn't work, I'll just use the original. Thanks for the compliment!
