1969 Door Slot Deal Question

So I'm redoing my windows (those who have read my post on Chuck and Redline know why) and I'm replacing the Door Slot Deal, the little fuzzy piece on the inside that goes against the window.

The seals I got from Sierra Madre 911.531.951.01 doesn't seem to fit quiet right, it's just a little longer than it needs to be.

Do I just need to trim down the piece or am I not installing it right?
