Unknown switch

Hi,
While replacing the heater flapper inner and outer cables I decided to remove the brake handle assembly and paint.
I ended up with this switch on the side and have no idea where it goes.

Thank you for your help.

IIRC, that's the E-brake warning light switch. It causes the brake light on the dash to blink if the brake handle is up when the ignition is ON.

EDIT: After further investigating, I'm going to retract my guess. That is not the switch for the E-brake warning light. I never had a car with heater blowers, but I suspect that is the switch as others have mentioned. E-brake did not have solid yellow wires and was shaped differently.

I believe that your heater fan switch. Controls fan in engine bay when heat leaver is pulled

Now I’m curios as there is another switch for the e brake.
I have two levers for the defrost\heat.
How is the fan from the engine bay being activated?

That switch bolts to your e brake and levers. I’m not in shop or I’d send pic. Pull lever, switch makes contact, sends power to fan

It would be awesome if someone can post a photo of this switch in situ.

Also, when are the heater flapper boxes closed?
When the levers are down? And does that mean the spring on the heater flapper box is always stretched until open?

Yellow wires.

My factory manual (1986) shows one yellow wire
at the heater lever switch.

Heater boxes are closed when the levers are UP (this means all the heat is flowing through the boxes into the passenger compartment). With the levers all the way down, the ports in the boxes should be open, allowing the heat to escape to the bottom of the engine area.

That’s he part hat confuses me as down is closed up is open, in my mind at least.
So when my levers ar up I should adjust the cable to have the flaps closed and spring engaged.
Again something tells me why would you have the spring engaged all the time? Ah i might be thinking too much.

I can’t figure out this switch location but if levers go down to open then the switch should be on for the fan to kick in. I can’t find a spot for it.

Its the opposite, all the way down the heat go outside (under the car).

When you pull on the lever, the switch turn the blower on and you get heat in the cabin. All the way up for maximum heat.
