BBS time wrong
Has anyone else noticed that the auto reply notifications from the BBS always appear out of order in their inboxes? For me they always end up sorted a few hours behind other mail from the same day. I think this is because the time offset for the BBS is not set correctly. It is currently at +8, I think it should be at -8 (this is what email I send myself says, and I am in the same time zone). This has been the case for a year now but today I decided to check the messages and see what's up... Wayne?

Change your local time settings in your profile. The time on the BBS isn't global - it is per person.

Mine is set to -8 (Pacific). I don't think it's the time you see on the BBS, it's the time of the PC that runs the BBS and sends mail.

Yes agree, it must be the time the server sent. As we are many hours ahead, mine too get buried in the old inbox items. I had too program a pop-up that says new Pelican Mail just to be alerted to it.

With all due respect, I happen to have both servers open in front of me. Both are set to the correct time and time zone, and both send email correctly to me...
I think that vB tries to correct for time zones - if you don't have yours properly configured in your control panel, then you might have these problems... -Wayne |

Wayne, with respest I must further disagree, just checked mine - it was sent to GMT +10, just chanfed to +11 but that is not going to fix the problem.
Not an huge issue by my book,

Wayne, I don't think VB has control over the date that is automatically included in the headers of mail sent from the machine. Send me an example e-mail (including headers) and I will check it out.
jkeyzer@ieee.org To see this problem you have to sort by the date the message was sent (this is what Eudora does) and not by when it was received in your mail client. (Yes, I realize this is really nitpicky. I was hoping there was a simple explanation. I have always wondered about this since I joined the BBS!)

I guess it depends on where the SMTP relay is, and what time server it's using (local or not, and what that's set to). Wayne'll fix it, I'm sure.
Yes, this is nitpicky. ![]()

The e-mails I get also get lost due to the time/date. Not a huge deal though.
