antenna plug for 1978 targa
My targa has two antennas. The drivers side is an electric and has not been used. It is just a stub. The right side is a normal antenna. I have looked at removing the electric antenna but have not figured out how. I have my door being repaired along with a windows out repaint. What can I use to plug the antenna hole if the shop can get the antenna out?

Due to the fuel filler, electric antennas on SCs came in the passenger side fender, and unpowered antennas on the driver's side. Kind of strange that yours is backwards.
The antenna assembly is simply attached to the inside of the fender. There is a company that makes plugs painted to match, but I don't recall their name off the top of my head. Someone will offer it.

Could you have the body shop weld and finish a plug for the hole as long as theyre painting other sections?

Windows out repaint?
Just have them weld the hole closed with a metal patch.

There are plugs on E-bay. But I dont really like it as a permament solution, especially if you are painting.

I would like to remove the electric antenna on a 911 SC. The only plug I've seen on ebay is a bit to shiny for my taste (see picture). Do you know if anyone is making black rubber plugs to fill the antenna hole?

tomswa,
Do you know the make of the antenna? I have the same location as you, driver side behind the fuel filler area. The switch was hidden under the dash, below the radio. I had no idea it was electric, at first. I just thought it was a manual that was stuck. My mistake It looks like the only way to service it is to remove the door. Is that correct?

I have the ebay one shown above. I installed last fall and will paint in the spring, i think a light sanding and a shot of rustoleum 7777 and it will be looking just fine.
