Old style flares vs New style flares

I don't see to much of a difference in these early vs late style flares (Other than the torsion bar hole) By late and early are they just referring to which type of car you can put it on? How different do these look on the car? Does anyone have any pics of to show me the difference between the two?

Sorry about all the questions

Early

Late

takin' sc flares vs turbo? i have flat sides, but i like the sc flares over the late and early turbos. the size tires would make a difference on my choice.

i would see if restoration design knows the different dimensions.

Does anyone know the year that the early flares were used up to?

I know 1987 fenders have a bigger torsion bar hole than 1986 fenders if that helps.
