will 16x7 fuchs fit?
I have an early 911 without flares. I am looking at getting some fuchs from wheelenhancement and I'd like to run 7's in the rear. I have heard it both ways - with fit/won't fit. Can anyone offer me a definative word on this?
Many thanks James |

205s with rolled lips will usually fit......but the cars have some variances. Mostly due to how much schnapps "Hans" had at lunch...

thanks everyone for the comments. the car is a 69 911E on the outside, but the running gear is 86 911. I purchased the car from a guy out of N.H. Anyway, it came with phone dials off a 928. these rims are 16x7 with 225 in the back. the previous owner made this all work by using spacers. Thing is, I want fuchs to keep the period look of the car. From what I have heard so far it seems that I can run 7's. Thanks! -James p/s glad I got the car put in as we have and over a 12 inches of snow here in New York City last night!

Question: spacers?
What do spacers do for larger/wider wheels? I've always wanted to know but was afraid to ask?

great question. I am sure that someone out there could address it better than it. From what I can tell they basically allow you to center the wheel in the fender....

Dave:
I don't know the set off of the phone dials, but would bet that is is greater that 23.3 mm which is the normal offset for a 911 7" wheel. If the 7" phone dials have an offset larger than 23.3 a spacer would be needed to push the wheel away from the inside of the car and toward the outside because the tire and even the wheel will rub against the inside of the wheel well, oil lines or anything else that might be inboard. Hope that helps.

I have ordered 16x7's for the rear with the hope that they will fit. Thanks to everyone. I will be at Hershey so look for my black 1969 911 with the new fuchs!

You better have something more distinctive than a black '69 911 with new fuchs if you want us to recognize you, unless you plan to carry the car on your back
