6" of snow last week, now look at this!
It was beautiful in the Midwest today. After the mini Midwest Pelican get together last night, I really have the Porsching bug. So I took me little friend out for a drive.
Last week: Today: And my top secret test loop (for Keith O) (down this hill for a flat out half mile then two tight s-turns and you're smiling down the next straight): Last edited by MotoSook; 02-21-2003 at 04:16 PM.. |

Shi*, 23.5" between last Sat and Mon., it's no where near clear enough to take the Pcar out of the garage! I've still got 12" - 18" in my yard and well over 3' on the side of the road!
Now they're saying we may get more next week...I hope not. We'll be going to visit family in Fla. next week, just wish I could fly down the Pcar. Oh well, spring will come...spring will come.... Bill W.

Adam, Oswego is about 2 hours (?) north of Peoria. It's been awhile since I made regular trips to and from that area of Illinois (Central).
There is a heathy car vibe in that part of Illinois, but mostly American muscle from what I recall. How's the car? |

Car's pretty good, bought it last summer from a guy in Bloomington, drove down there from my folks house in Milwaukee, checked it out, had it checked out, 2 weeks later flew back and drove in with my brother back to NJ...
Car's been pretty good, working out some 23 year old details, leaking from some spots, needs new rubber. Only had 56K on the odometer when I bought her, so some would argue a bit underdriven, so the 3K miles I put on right away have exposed an issue or two, but what would be the fun of 911 ownership without some oil and chattering valves.... My mechanic and I are taking it bit by bit in manageable chunks and he's actually going to start a club and teach some of us newbies how to do things on our own while using his lifts and tools...pretty cool...

That is great of your wrench to do that. When I bought my car, I was clueless and Pelican didn't exist. Had there been guys around to help me, I would have sorted everything out with my car by now, but as it is, I'm slowly going over everything in and on the car.
I am at the point where I'm really starting to enjoy owning a 911. Good luck getting everything sorted on your car. |

Is the drag strip still in Oswego? used to go there with my older brothers in the early 60's.

No, they coverted it to a nursery years ago, now the nursery is being converted to a shopping center..subdvion.
![]() When I was a kid, that drag strip was already out of service. I use to drive by with my Dad and saw the tires left along the road. Didn't realize it was an old drag strip until people started to ask about or mention it. Pretty sad how this area has changed in the last 20 years. |
