I remember when I saw that first signal orange Singer at Laguna Seca years ago. Stopped me in my tracks. But now the more I see them, the less impressive they become.

And I think that's for two reasons. First, I think they are becoming more standardized and less special. Second, even a masterpiece, if reproduced enough, loses its appeal. If van Gogh painted 1,000 slightly different versions of the same painting would we stop caring?

Wow...

Is that 2nd Singer petrol blue?

I love the personalization of Singers, individual works of art in my eyes. Singer tapped a vein that will probably not run dry anytime soon. (well, maybe until the supply of 964’s are exhausted).

I wish I could afford one...

While the are sold as Singers they are in effect a 1989-1994 Porsche 911 (964 series). So to be registered legal in Cali or even Colorado’s front range they need to have factory emission controls in place.

Maybe some have a way to get show and display status, but I’m speculating on that.

As an AZ buisness owner and also a California resident, the legal way to address your need is to purchase a "California Commuter" sticker from a DMV near the Cali borders. $20 annual fee perfectly legal, but NEVER disclosed by Cali.
I was a victim of the website and had to prove to the CHP I was legit. (guilty until proven innocent, because its about the $$$)
All of Baja California & Mexico is full of South Dakota plates for the expat's who live there and can't afford the states.

It's laughable that our government mandates emission laws, while their flying all over our country spraying aluminum and barium into our atmosphere.
Singers are nice cars but the novelty has worn off, they keep patting themselves on the back but honestly any halfway decent builder with $400,000 should be able to come up with something similiar.
Design and build a car from scratch all by yourself now that would be impressive.

It's also posible that the car, if in fact it is owned by a California resident, would likely not meet Cali's strict emissions regulations. This is a very possible scenario to me given my admittedly limited knowledge of the California laws in that area.

Not sure how cali is (I assume worse, much worse) but in NY everything pre-OBD-II is emissions exempt. Just safety inspection.
