81 sc vs 87 continued

Well, happy ending to my story.
My friend is out of town for the week so I took his tired 87 to S Car Go and had Rob look it over.
Turns out that there is $4000 of work to be done and then .....
are you sitting down?
Compression on one of the cylinders was way low. Valve job and seals coming in the near future.

Here is some stuff for laughs.
Original shocks, Drove like an old caddy
original Tie rods
F/R Brakes shot
front rotors burnt up
misfire in engine.
rear tires new, front tires bald on outside cause of running while under inflated. 25 lbs remember?

Should I shoot him when he gets back?
What is the proper way to deal with ignorance like this?

Sell the car while he’s away and then put the money under his pillow!

I think you should take the car under foster care with appropriate financial contribution from the "real" owner (if you can call him that). Tell him it is by order of the SCWDP. Then, either euthanase the car (I mean, its only a Carrera) or fix it with his money, introduce him to this BBS and get him on the straight and narrow from here on.

Put it on e-bay - that's where the rest of the abused cars go!

This is a good example of what can be out there if your shopping. It reminds me of an 86 Carrera I looked at with low miles ( 30K) and was in worse shape than most cars with 3 times the milage.
A lot of people what to own a Porsche but are just not into their mechanics, upkeep and spending the nessary dollars to maintain them properly.

Hey Brad, Have you ever been it this car with your friend driving?
That might be as eerie as it's condition ?

Thgey are doing their best to fix the problem temp until further notice.
