Night time drive with LED lights

Shot a short video tonight after sunset. It's a crappy cell phone video, but it still shows how good these lights are.
FYI, this is low beam, but they need to be adjusted a bit down.

I too am curious as to what you used. Looks great! I just did a mountain drive at night a few days ago and would really like to upgrade the headlights but keep he OEM look.

I ended up going with flat6illumination. There are others out there that make similar products, I went with them for my own reasons. Biggest issues with any of these is that some people don't like the non vintage look. To each their own.

Years ago I also replaced my stock carrera fog lights with aftermarket aux driving lights wired to the high beams. Helped as well.

Thx for the follow-up == your light patterns look great (as I'd hope a dedicated, from scratch, led solution would).

I do, however, remain skeptical that a h4 drop-in LED "bulb" could replicate the sharp cut-off, etc. if placed in a h4 light assembly designed for an incandescent halogen bulb.

Here is what I have. Personally I like the look.

Technically this is more of a vintage look (think 356 or VW) with the clear lenses then the fluted lenses, but either way they are awesome lights even comparing them to H4, not to mention the H5 that are a joke. I wish I had a video with the H5 as well to compare apples to oranges.

Thanks 3Ddesigns911 -- again, makes perfect sense that a dedicated LED-based assembly would provide great light -- still happy with my h4 assemblies with high wattage bulbs, but will keep both of these options in mind going forward.

thoughts about these guys? BI-LED Headlight Conversion - Plug and Play - Rev2-Rennline, Inc.

expensive, but they have the fluted option to keep the OE look

I tried drop in H4s in my 928 (euro 8" reflectors). Initially thought the lighting looked like it was going to be a great upgrade, but as soon as I started driving it in the dark it became obvious that it wasn't a good solution. the LEDs did create a much brighter and whiter light, and the top cutoff was acceptable. the issue was that there was a lot of light that spilled out low just in front of the car. with the close are in front of the car illuminated so much more it made it very difficult to see very far into the distance since my eyes would constrict to cut out the bright close lighting. I have found the best option for good night visibility is to use a high quality H4 bulb and E-code reflector. I have not tried a new LED specific reflector so there are probably some good viable options there.

I installed the LED units from CarMagic (rothhaus here on Pelican). They are H-4 housings. I installed the ones with fluted lenses. Super satisfied. Cannot even compare to my old H-5s; light output is at least 3X, with a good cut-off, but much more thorough illumination. Love the fluted lenses because you have to look really closely to tell they are not conventional H-4s. On high beam, you can see into the next county...
