what is the differnce between Hella and Bosch H4 headlights?
I just picked up a car that has Hella h4 headlights. They look more like sugar scoops to me with the trim ring that they have on there. ...very different than the Bosch H4s I had on my '74 before I went LED.
Thanks in advance

hella h4 headlights are standard round bulbs that are drop-in replacements for the us-spec sealed beam bulbs -- they use the sugar scoop housing. Light output-wise, they're about the same as the bosch 911-specific h4s -- installing headlight relays and cleaning the insides of the lenses/reflectors could be good ideas

I'll check the thread. No pics handy.
These lenses say Hella H4 on them as well so it is I think more than just a bulb change. No?

Read the thread that Gordon linked - H4 lights. It clearly goes over the differences between the Euro and drop in headlight replacements.
You can have Bosch H4 lights in both the large lens Euro lights and the sealed beam replacement drop-in lights used in sugar scoops. You can also get Hella, Cibie and many others in the standard sizes for sugar scoops. The brand stamped in the lens doesn't dictate the form factor of the light.
