Copper for my '80 SC after some research. Don't remember the reasons.

Copper. The Bosch Platinums are junk according to my friend, Bosch Master Tech and garage owner. He got sick of the comebacks and stopped using them. Bosch would tell him, "oh the new ones are better" and he fell for it a few times.
I remember someone asking Bruce Anderson in Excellence about their ignition and he said something like "the stock ignition will blow through anything - except Bosch platinum plugs". -Chris |

I've heard from more than one wrench that the platnum are too cold and they will not use them.

I recently aquired a set of BERU SILVERSTONES free of charge that I'm going to try. I normally run BOSCH COPPER...never have ran Platinums

"New style" platinum is the "fine wire" style with ceramic almost all the way to the tip. Chris Bennet's comments are correct. Have had reports that these have a tendency to fail/break at the tip. Old platinums of 30 years ago have a standard electrode thickness ( hence the $12-$20 /pop cost !)...and don't fall prey to this.
For modern cars...Bosch Copper or Silver...or NGK copper. Single big honkin electrode. ---Wil Ferch
