I love this guy. I love his flowery sales pitches. I love his slightly-gone-to-seed models. Ebay's a better place for CaliforniaClassix.

I especially like:

"Many lovingly selected items help in the pursuit to create the perfect Speedster".

The mental image I get of someone lovingly selecting a steering wheel as part of a commercial venture is pretty funny.

Ahhhh, another ebay-ho.....gotta love the fact he can never advertise a real set of hooters or a real 356.....fiberglass and silicone, might make a good name for a duet tune with Michael Jackson and Pamela Lee....

Ah yes, Richard, 'Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!' A movie that forever distorted my sense of what to expect from the female sex. How cruel life is when it teaches you that there aren't roving bands of buxom chicks who like to race sports cars all day, and then Go-Go dance all night.

Oh, yeah. When they weren't racing, they'd wrestle each other and talk tough. What a great movie.

Are you serious Jack? Is that the name of the movie the clip is from? Do you know where they have copies I can order? If that's the plot, how did that one avoid an Oscar? Obviously not enough men like me on the selection committee.

Wait a minute! Isn't this a kit car built out of old parts, of which the 42 year old California pan is one of, if not the only real Porsche part? Did someone really bid 20 grand knowing it was a reproduction?

Think that sale will go through?

Um, I assume it is a shortened beetle pan like almost all the other replicas out there, so it is worse than you think!

I don't think the movie's any good... but it's also great, you know? Lousy story. Poor acting. Not enough shots of the cars.

It's a Russ Meyer movie. He built his own trashy empire of X-rated (would be R by contemporary standards) movies in the sixties.

Here's a synopsis:

Quote:
Exploitation maven Russ Meyer created a cult classic with this turbo-charged action film. Three curvaceous go-go dancers in a cool sportscar go on a desert crime-spree, led by Varla (the amazing Tura Satana), a busty, nasty woman dressed entirely in black. Varla's lesbian moll Rosie (Haji) -- who has an extremely overwrought accent -- and reluctant bimbo Billie (Lori Williams) are along for the ride. When they meet a naive young couple (Ray Barlow and Sue Bernard), Varla challenges the man to a race then breaks his spine with a single karate chop. They take the girl hostage and drive to a house owned by a crippled old lecher (Stuart Lancaster) and his hunky but retarded son Vegetable. Varla discovers that the old man has money hidden on the property, so the girls try to find it. Meanwhile, Vegetable's perverted father tricks him into raping Billie as he watches, but his other son (Paul Trinka) finally shows up to save the day. A great deal of bloodshed, campy catfighting, and funny dialogue fills the bulk of this fast-paced comic book of a movie.
Sounds hard to resist, huh?

In the clip, that's Varla and Rosie by the 911 while Billie (foreground) teaches actress Sue Bernard some go-go moves. In a few moments, the friendly veneer of desert racing will be shattered, when Varla severs Ray Barlow's spine with a single devastating karate chop!

MRM- nowhere in the ad does it say,"Porsche pan". Where on earth are they gonna get one of those? I don't think they made any 356's into dunebuggys, could be wrong. And yeah, good speedster replicas go for $20,000. This guy is a little cagey with his headlines, but if you read the ad it tells all about it. Anyone who thinks they are bidding on a real one in showroom cond. for $20G's is on a hummer. Speedster production ended with '58 MY.

That car is beautiful. I would gladly fork out 20k for it as a replica. As for the woman...I dunno what to say other than I'd hit it.
