Going Wider!

Hi All,

I've got 8 inch Fuchs on the rear of my SC fitted with 225's. Just wondering if I can safely go to 245's? There seems to be plenty of room:

Cheers

I put Yoko A032R 245's on the rear of my car but on 9" rims. I'll let the experts weigh in.

8s and 245s have been on my SC cab for the longest time....mo problems.....I even have 225s up front, in a 45 series though. No rubbing or need fender rolling.

Tim,

Why would you want to go to wider tires since the 225's are the optimum size for your 8" wheels. 245's on 8" wheels will tend to pull the tread into a convex curvature and cause the center of the tire to wear prematurely. The only gain is looks and if that's the object, then go for it.

Regs,

Joe

I switched to 245/45 from the stock 225/50 on 16x8s to improve the feel of oversteer that I had. The scrubbing problem was no worse than 225s, just work out the right pressure for your car. As mikez reports, "mo problems" , I kept 205/55 up front 'cuz on a lowered euro the 225s would have forced a roll job and I still got the balance I wanted w/ 205s.
