83 sc crankcase drain plug

My 83 sc crankcase drain plug is positioned towards the back of the vehicle. I suspect that is correct and I've no reason to believe that it was changed in the past, but I've seen mentioned that some drain plugs are positioned to the driver's side. The Bentley isn't very clear and in fact makes no mention of it.

Am I OK to leave it as it is? Build date 11/82.

Thx, hughc

reposition to the left, as its just below the pump and the plugs magnet can collect debrit better that way.

Looking up at the sump plate from under the car, my 83 has the plug positioned at 3 o'clock. 12 being the front of the vehicle the plug on the drivers side.

That year SC should have the later style sump screen that requires the drain plug to be on the drivers side. I'm surprised that the sump plate even fit with the plug on the center line.

Early SC's came new with a different style sump screen and the drain plug on the center of the engine, towards the rear of the car. It was recommended that those be changed to the new style to address some oil pickup issues, and that required rotating the sump screen to the drivers side. But as I said, a 1983 should have come new with the later style screen.

Check out this thread. This is what your sump screen should look like.
SC oil pump screen and wha is this?

Thanks guys. I guess I'll have to remove that plate at my next oil change to see if anything is askew. Will I have to replace any parts in order to be able to rotate that plate?
