Fitment years
Tops are not interchangeable except where stated, because body design and Targa top seals differences.

67-68 Thick square rear folding arms, three prong hinges, narrow side seal held with trim piece with five screws, two bare rear metal pins, hook latch, vinyl headliner of soft window and cloth headliner for hard window, fine grain vinyl covered. The soft widow frame was heaver. Tops are interchangeable. Narrow over the windshield seal.

69 Thin rear folding arms, two prong hinges, narrow side seal held with trim piece with five screws, two bare rear pins, cloth headliner, fine grain vinyl covered, hook latch. Visually different than 67-68 but interchangeable. Soft window 69 cars used 68 top. Narrow over the windshield seal.

70-73 Thin two finger hinge frame, wide side seal held with four screws going through rubber, two bare rear pins, cloth headliner, fine grain vinyl covered, hook latch. Not interchangeable with earlier tops. Start of thick over the windshield seal.

74-85 Thin two finger hinge, wide side seal held with four screws, three rear pins with plastic sleeve on out side pins, cloth headliner, coarse grain vinyl covered, hook latch. There is a slight difference in front frame design between 74-77 and 78-85 but they are interchangeable.

86-89 Thick three finger hinge frame, wide seal held with four screws going through rubber, three rear pins with plastic sleeve on out side pins, cloth headliner, coarse grain vinyl covered, roller latch. This will not fit later 90-94 cars, any attempted use leads to fly offs.

90-94 Thick three finger frame, narrow side seal no screw holes, heavy steel rain gutter, three rear pins with plastic sleeve on out side pins, cloth headliner, coarse grain vinyl, roller latch. Change in windshields pillar and very thick over the windshield seal makes this top stand alone form 86-89.

Zombie thread... but will a top from a '73 (2 rear pins) work on a '77 (3 rear pins) targa? That is, are the 2 pins on the '73 in the same location as the later tops outer pins? Looking for a Saratoga top and found one used on a '73 with only 2 pins, though there is a unused hole in the rear bar center the MAY be correct for the 74-85 tops' 3rd pin.

Where can new seals for the Saratoga top be found?

Thanks.

Would be a good idea to turn this into a sticky and add sourcing options for top rebuild parts

As the Saratoga top is solid, I’d imagine they would fit and be secure enough without the center pin. The seals were probably sourced from some supplier and someone may have replaced theirs at some time. I also have a Saratoga top for my ‘84 Targa and do love it’s open look even when the top is in place.
