Never had a problem with ollies. Excellent service and quick turn around for my engine case during December. Guess it all depends when the peek end of racing season is!!!!

Had extensive work done at Ollie's at the end of last year. Quoted 12 - 14 weeks and I told him I was in no hurry - if he had folks expediting, feel free to bump me back a bit. I won't bug you.
Tim chuckled and said with a smile "oh, you'll call..."

This thread reminded me of my visit. Made me chuckle.
Ollie's is the best.

Great! I just went through their price list. Looks like things can add up pretty quickly!

DRACO A5OG 05-13-2018 11:04 PM

I delivered it personally and they advised I was 50th on the list of 200 engine cases they have to work on.

They re-bushed and checked my rods, checked and straightened my journals, replaced sprayers, removed old cylinder studs and Hot Bathed.

3 weeks later got her in the mail :-)

Massively impressed with Ollie's. They under promised and over-delivered with the recent machine work performed on my SC motor; walking me through the repair of a fairly damaged crank. They had the plugs and gear removed, ground, heat treated, polished, re-assembled, cleaned, balanced and shipped to my door in less than eight weeks.

15 weeks and counting... The anticipation of it all is killing me!!

Trakrat 06-28-2018 01:10 PM

4 months ago from today Ollie's received all my engine parts...
it's been an agonizing wait these past 4 months... :(

Nobody likes to wait for what they want, but I advise that you let it be. The Porsche community is very small and you can be sure you have been heard.

You might also consider how poking this post is working for you at Ollies.

Dub, you are in rare air up there in the PNW with mr walker and steve w. & their willingness to participate on these boards much to all of our benefit. dave at tre & Tyson and of course grady (RIP) also come to mind contributing from time to time then and now. but, for the most part shop owners Porsche techs are not paruzzing pelican parts on their lunch hours or when they get home at night, at least the dozen or so I call friends ain't.. shot you call them to talk porsches and they can become salty...

understandably it's like the last thing I want to do at night is related to the job ive just done all day!! I don't suspect a outfit like ollies is looking in here to see what the rat said about them. or is gunna be butt hurt for expressing his eagerness to move the project along to the point where his stuff is slipping. he's far from bugging to this.

You got that right. John Walker rules. I actually probably vote him the best 911 mechanic in the USA. I'm not kidding. I am sure there isn't a thing he knows.

I wish he would write some books. There are many many tricks he knows - and we do not.

I've asked him several questions via PM and he always gets back to me.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but when I read that juanbenae said his willingness to participate on this board is for our benefit - and is something we shouldn't take for granted.

Yep.
Steve Weiner helped me with my suspension about 18 months ago. There was a mix up and I got a wrong part. In the process of correcting it he went dark. No returned emails, answered phone messages, nothing.
I did not start a thread or complain and I知 glad I didn稚. I would have a big egg on my face.
He had a medical issue and had spent a few weeks in the hospital.
I kind of suspected something because he was too nice of a guy and too well known to pull any BS.

Anyway threads can bite you in the arse.

This is just my method of self-support. :)

Staring at my car up on jack stands for the past 10 months is depressing. :(

Jdub 06-29-2018 07:34 AM

I hear you T-rat, and do understand, and do not mean to get crusty. I often have a second project or sub-assembly to keep me busy while I wait on third-party repairs.

Hang in there!

Lord have mercy. My 71T mag case has been there since March 1st. My build has been going on since 2016 so I知 antsy for a return call and timeline for completion. I was told 10-12 weeks in March. I知 at 17 weeks. Patience is a virtue.

Mine has been been apart for about 5 years. Every time I get back to it something comes up that uses all my time or money.

I'm actually glad I'm not the only one... ;) I was also told 10-12 weeks.

The most recent update I got from them was another 5 weeks needed... which would bring the time to 25 weeks.

Lake Havasu City AZ this time of year has lots of distractions, The lake is awesome, boats more over the top than any Porsche and the #11 girls that go with them. Honestly, been that way since they were in S.A. CA. You are paying for the required knowledge, tooling, etc. and hands on experience first and foremost.

Trakrat 09-07-2018 11:36 AM

Just to update.... 27weeks (~6 months) was the turn around time for everything. Everything is being shipped back now.

So if you are going to have any work done... regardless of how optimistic the turnaround time may seem... give yourself 6 months to get everything done and shipped back to you.

I called them after 10 weeks for an update... and again after 20 weeks for an update, just so I can make sure what's going on and I was financially prepared to pay them. After 20 weeks, they told me 5 more weeks to call back and they should be done.

Just an FYI... I shipped them everything at the end of February, so depending on WHEN you ship everything out may vary your turnaround time.

Were they waiting on parts from Rebel Racing?
