Track mats

I’m looking into track mats for my ‘82 SC. Currently I just pull the carpet and run with the bare floorboard. Issue is that there is a butyl type tape/insulation that is tacky on the heel and distracting. So, I figured I would cover it up.

Do the black track mats from Rennline and others wear well or do they just get all scraped up?

Thanks

Will

They wear well enough but are not used on a 911

964 & 993 have raised channels and wires running across the floor on bothe the drivers and passenger sides. The track mats are use to level the floor

I put them in my ‘84 3.2 and like them - I use the car for DE only - they are black and seem to be wearing fine

when you have a perfectly flat floor, carpets is the most that you'd ever need

Bill,

In my case the floor has a sticky backed sound deadening and no carpet. The sticky material is distracting as it pulls on my heel. I could spray, scrape and remove the material or cover with a mat of sorts. That’s why I posed the question. Sorry for any confusion.

So clean it w/ Goof Off or something like it, do use a respirator though.

The Rennline Track mats raise the floor an inch or so, 964/993 have very thick custom fitted padding there to level the floor, the carpet sits on top of the padding.

For weight loss many remove the stock padding and carpet, it is quite heavy. The bare floor is so irregular and low wrt the pedals that you have to put something there, hence the Track mats, not to be confused w/ the floor boards you can see behind the pedals in my car above.

My Rennline track mats lay flat on the sliverknit carpet I installed. I doubt I have any higher feet positioning over what was previously stock carpet and padding.

When I installed mine I put them in over the metal floor and attached with wide strips of velcro.
