Did Any Porsche Come With 215/45x17 and 245/40x17 tires?
The question is in the thread title. Did any Porsche come (from the factory) with 215/45x17 and 245/40x17 tires?

I agree the answer is no, but there were a few 1990s 911 variants that were close, e.g. the 205/50R17 & 255/40R17 combination.
https://tiresize.com/tires/Porsche/911/ The size you are asking about may be an appropriate size for a G-body car retrofitted with 17's from the original 15's or 16's. There are many threads on 17 wheel tire sizing. (Fyi, I have a set of 225/45ZR17 & 255/40ZR17 for my '87 3.2.) |

The reason I ask is because the tire shop I would prefer to use will only install the factory correct tire size(s). These tires (and wheels for that matter) are not factory stock for my car. I'll just use a different tire shop.

Might be easier to leave the car and home and just jack it up and bring them the wheels and tires and ask them to mount and balance. When they ask you for what type car just tell them a custom hot rod you are building.

The car is on jackstands now. I do plan to just take the wheels and tires (or have the tires drop-shipped) to the tire store. However, it sounds like their policy insists on only installing factory-correct tires. I could find some car, any car, that wore those tire sizes....but the wheels are 130x5 Euromeister fake Fuchs. That's just a bit more drama than I want. Easier to just find a tire store with a more permissive policy.

It sounds like you went to one of the major chain tire stores, one that has corporate-mandated policies.
Better to find an independent garage that has some experience and expertise with older Porsches. I understand there are several good ones in the Olympia area. |

Don't go to Costco to by tires. AHIK.
Buy the tires you want at TireRack and have them shipped to a near by tire shop that TireRack has listed. If they give you crap (assuming you are only bringing the wheels to them) take your tires to a locally owned shop and pay them cash to mount and balance them. Perhaps someone on this board can make a suggestion for a shop in your area. It is amazing how ignorant some tire store workers can be. I had the assistant manager at a Costco insist that my 7 x 16 fuchs was an 8" wide wheel, even though it was stamped 7 x 16. He refused to mount a 205 tire on that wheel, even though a 205 is approved for a 7" wheel.
