The R5 Tribute: A Bridge too far? A Chasm too Deep? A Valley....

I will start this thread out by stating: I LOVE MY WIFE. (seriously, I really do). She is smart, funny, beautiful and hasn't (yet) insisted I go to rehab for my Porsche sickness.

I also want to say "thank you" to my younger brother who got a loaner crew cab F-150 so we could get not just the car, but all the various parts through the mountains and back home to North Carolina.

Next, I will then cross-post this thread from the 911 / 930 Turbo & Super Charging Forum. It is both sad and inspiring to me.

First TURBO Racer GONE

I will now share these 2 "inspiration pictures" from the above thread. They were taken by a friend of mine in Charlotte, NC around 1993.

I will state publicly that I may not do anything on this build for months, maybe years - until I get my other project done.

Finally, I will share these photos. It is a 1972 911 T coupe - originally Signal Orange- that is now a VERY aborted race car project. It came with an incomplete wannbe RS 2.8 engine (work done by Competition Engineering) with various MFI bits as well as the original block.

I may do a "reveal" picture, but only later today. Mainly because the neighbors are hosting their kid's birthday party this morning for 20 guests so I need to look like a respectable neighbor.

And in conclusion, If anyone knows of a motor similar to the one below for cheap or free, PLEASE PM me NOW.

Let me know if you find a good reasonable cost rehab place, need to weigh cost and time spent going to rehab vs. the way I presently spend my money and time, just finished ripping out my entire interior this weekend starting on RSing the interior .
Might be to late for therapy, padded room time:

Got a spare set of wheels on it after the neighbor's party finished up. Yeah...I've definitely bitten off smaller things to chew in my life than this project.

Is that the '72 that was up for sale on the Cleveland Craigslist? Looks very similar.

What a great vision for it! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

So I've posted these questions on the turbo/supercharging forum. That forum gets about 1/10th the traffic that this one does. So hoping the trusty 911 Tech forum will come through more quickly. So here are my questions:

1) Does anyone know who might supply the reproduction fiberglass body panels that appeared on the first 2.1 turbo RSR's - specifically the rear wing and roof clip? I know....probably not a huge market for these - ever - but hoping maybe somebody did supply them back in the day and there is a set still collecting dust in a corner of a garage - or ideally, still making them today. The rear quarters still look to be available (AIR) and the front fenders look like standard RSR flares.

2) Does anyone know for sure if the first 2.1 turbos used a top or standard mounted fan? I've found pictures that appear to show both configurations.

This one I previously posted.

And this one, that shows a top mounted fan.

Thanks.
