should i or shouldnt I

Ok the car is a 73 911 T it has 30.000 miles on the odometer,Which is also documented. The original color is yellow The car runs supposedly but has not done so in 8 months.Heres the bad. The roof and doors have rust spots 6: diameter[weird] about 6 of them the window seals are weathered and obviously this car has been sitting in the sun outdoors.the bottom of the doors are also rusted. The bottom of the car [tub] is very nice it has no visable rust. I know its gotta be there though ?? The trunk looks really nice with no rust in or by the batteries. The interior The front seats are almost perfect, there is no carpet and from the look of the floors they look good. The bad is the rear shelf is trashed water from the bad seals[windows] has rusted it and it is pretty much eaten away. It has very nice fuchs and a ducktail. The asking price is 2800.00 Am i nuts to even go here? Im looking to do the bodywork and paint myself as i do have previous backyard experience. What do you think ? Ive just never dealt with huge rust spots?

poke and prod some more especially in the rocker area for more rust. Also look for cracks in the undercoating that can hide huge rust spots. Could you post pics of the rust? We could price the replacement parts for that rust for you. It could be a decent buy if you want a project, but for a driver right now it needs alot of work. I'd say if you're looking for something to work on it and you're not afraid of some welding go for it.

Above ALL find out how much rust is on the frame though.

hmm.. dtw or jamie can help you more with the rust. I don't like the sound of the roof rust but if the rest of the car's ok then you should be able to get way with replacing that (welding a new peice in) and be fine. If you have rust that far up in the car I'm worried about the usual places.
